Mid-Week Calm
Happy Wednesday and thanks to everyone who has gotten our blog off to an active start. We've already heard from a 1980s alum. Two years ago, we were so glad to read comments from alumni and friends all across the globe. Nothing to bring a university community together like the excitement of the NCAA Tournament.
The Courant's website is conducting a poll as to what fans think of the Hawks #10 seeding. More than 78 percent say it seems about right, 15 percent say it is too low, and 6.8 percent think it is too high.
We did have a question on the blog asking about Syracuse. The Orange have not been to the NCAAs in six years and are having a storybook season.
Check out the Syracuse Post-Standard story following Selection Monday.
Here's an overview of Syracuse...Four scorers average in double figures and the entire team plays with intensity and a love for the game. The Orange have two wins over Top 20 RPI teams in Louisville and West Virginia, and also won at DePaul. The Orange treated a record home crowd to a thriller against UConn, staying right with the Huskies before falling, 65-59, yet lost to another common opponent with Hartford, falling at Providence late in the season, 62-58.
Syracuse was picked to finish 14th in the Big East and instead won 22 overall games with head coach Quentin Hillsman being named conference Coach of the Year.
Well, pack up. It's on to Baton Rouge where our blog reports, photos, and video clips will come your way. Keep on writing and go Hawks.
